We are the descendants of the founding families of Early San Diego, California. Our mission is the preservation and education of early San Diego history. Our past history is complex as our ancestors transitioned from the Village of Cosoy, the Spanish Period, the Mexican Period and now America. Our culture and families are still here. We represent the descendants of families from all of these periods, in what became the birthplace of California.
We are honored to share our stories, food, artifacts, and continue the traditions of our families.
Join us in workshops, in-person gatherings at various events primarily in Old Town San Diego. Our niche history is capture in our own genealogy database.

Preservation of San Diego History
Our commitment to preserving San Diego's history ensures that the stories and legacies of the village of Cosoy and early settlers are honored and shared with future generations.
We collaborate with city and state parks, museums, and historical sites to bring the stories of San Diego's founding families to life through expert-guided tours, exhibits, and preservation efforts. Our deep knowledge and passion for early history make us the go-to resource for cultural and historical projects. Together, we can ensure that the legacy of early San Diego is honored and passed on to future generations."

The City of San Diego awarded Descendants of Early San Diego, the History and Preservation award in 2024.

Our engagement with Old Town Trolley Tours landed the first SEAL of Generosity with local ancestor Juana de Dios Machado, July 1, 2025.
EXPLORE OUR GATHERINGS
Our gatherings in Old Town San Diego provide a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of early San Diego. From historical tours, food, traditional music and dance. Each gathering offers a glimpse into the past and becomes living history.

For 43 years Descendants have gathered in Old Town San Diego for the annual luncheon the last weekend in June.
